THE COMPETITIONS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Regarding the piano solo, under fen years, “The Wind in the Fines,” could you inform me if Mr Gregson thinks it is fair to the children to have chosen a piece which requires the use of tie pedals, whereas Mr Gregson points out the children’s tiny feet could not reach themP Trusting there will be more careful selection next year in the interest of the little ones, and thanking you, Mr Editor, in anticipation.—l am., etc., INTERESTED. (This letter was referred to Mr GregEon, who stated that most of the children in the section referred to could reach the pedals, but where they could not he made allowances. The trouble was that some teachers would sit the little ones too high at the piano. Mr Gregson also stated that the music was not chosen by him, but by the previous year’s judge. The reference to some of the children not being able to reach the pedals was tho reporter’s comment, not Mr Gregson’s.—Ed, “JL.T”)
