ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FOUND DEAD. {Psjj Press Association. 1 WESTPORT, May 16. James Risk, a well-known Millerton coal miner, was found dead in his hut this morning. He had complained of being unwell on Tuesday and went home.
DEATH BY HANGING.
[Per Press Association.] PALMERSTON NORTH, May 16. A returned soldier, Private Arthur Robert Gardner, committed suicide by hanging himself with a sheet from a fire escape at the Occidental Hotel tonight. Deceased was Been at six o’clock, when he appeared in his usual state of health. He went upstairs and at 8-30 was found dead. He had thrown himself over the side of the hotel. His neck was broken. Gardner was twenty years of age. He returned on February 28 after a year’s active service in the Auckland Infantry, and a month later was discharged on account of wounds. He had complained lately of terrible pains in the head.
