ANOTHER INCREASE DEMANDED. [From Otni Correspondent.] WELLINGTON, March 12. The waterside rs have re-opened the wages question with the employers, who are considering the matter. The waterside agreement does not expire until December, 1919, but the men are following the precedent set by other unions in asking for higher rates in accordance with the increased cost of living. The Arbitration Court at its session ; here on Monday will hear applications —as a result of its recent decision that it must review wages if called on by the parties to an nnexpired award—from the builders’ and general labourers’, furniture trade workers’. and painters’ unions. All three desire increases based upon the increase in the cost of living as disclosed by the' Government Statistician.
