CLARENCE BRIDGE WETHER SALE. The first annual dry sheop sale heid by the Mariborough Coast Settlers' Association, Ltd., in their Olarouoo Bridge yards took place on Friday, December 20, and proved a distinct success, in spite of the fact that, owing to postponement through the recent epidemic, several lines of sheep that had been entered wero sold previously. Out of a total entry of close on 10,000 .only i» few lots were passed, all sheep belonging to members of the association being sold without reserve. Following was the range of prices: . Twotooth wethers Els 3d to 28s 2d, four and six-tooth wethers 25s to 325, the latter price being obtained for a particularly good line of about 900 half-bred: six and eight-tooth wethers from Woodbank; two-tooth ewes 27s to 30s 3d. A lino of six and eight-tooth merino wethers was passed at 255. Noticeable features of the sale were that all straight station and fp.rme.rs' lines met with keen competition and all the sheep, were bought by grazier3. At a meeting with tho auctioneers it was arranged to hold the annual ewo fair at the latter end gi February, 1919. -« POULTRY. MeBSTs J. B. Merrett and Co. report their final Christmas poultry sale cor Tuesday."Prices wore exceptional, especially in goslings which realised 7s to 1&. Table chickens were also in good demand at 7e to 12s 6d, ducks 6s to lis, hens 3s to 7b, pig-cona 2a to ss. pullets 6s to lis, all per pair. EGGS. The Christmas demand for «ggs at la <& firsts and Is 6d secouda ie practically over. This week's listings will be Id a do-en less, Canterbury Egg Circle first being Is od, Boconds Is 4d per dozen. The weekly egg salo of the Canterbury Egg Farmers' Association was hsld on. Tuesday afternoon at the rooms of Messrs Harris Bros., auctioneers. There was a fait entry, and nearfly every lot was sold at the foil-w----ing prices:—First grade-hen eggs (2oz and over) Is ti to Is sd, -second grade Is SJd to l« id, Competition eggs la ii, duck eggs Is SJd to Is <td.
