PIGEON FLYING.
CANTERBURY CLUB. The Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club conducted a race from Parnassus on Saturday, Octobor 5. Each member competing was allowed to race only one bird per loft, aru thirteen lofts wore represented. The elation master liberated the birds at 2 p.m.. in fmo wee.her. A nor-west wind prevailed, which changed to a nor’-easter as the birds neared homo. Tho birds put up fairly fast time for the distance of 74 miles 1621 yards air line. Following are the results: F. .Kingsford’s Yar.dorlindcn. 12'25yds per min; D. Dore’s No. 311, 1213yds; C. Kirkley’s No. 365, 1211yds; J. Barter's No. SOI, 1206yds; W. Cumming’s No. 433, 1204yds; F. Wilson’s No. 51. 1202yds; C. Woodhouse's The Fin, 1092yds; B. Finnegan’s No. 201, 1031yds; H. Browning’s No. 36, 1074yds, J. Duffield’s No. 409, 705yds; W. Terry’s War-ante, 563yds.
Ths club conducted another race from Parnassus on Saturday, October 12, under the same condi ions. Ten lofts were represented. Tho birds were liberated at 2 p.m., in fine weather, and a nor’-easterly wind, ar.d fast times wero recorded. The following ia the result; F. Kingsford’s Y-anderlindcn, 1543vds per min; D. Bore’s No. 311, 1502yds: W. Cumming’s No. 49fi, 149Svds; C. Woodhouse’s The Fin, 1106yds: J. Barter's No. 301, 1471yds; W. Terry’s War ante. 1467yds: F. Wilson s No. 51, 1436yds: 11.
