AQUATIC.
AKAROA BOATING Tho Akaroa Boating Club opened its season on Monday, a large crowd being present. After tho president (Mr C. AV. Leete) declared tho season open two races were contested, and good ■entries wore received. Owing* to only two boats being available, Severn! heats had to be rowed. The first, race, Ladies' Pair-oar (Cl, was won by Misses Flaherty and Kattowski; tho second, s. combination race (lady ' stroke, member bowl (8) was w an by Miss Flaherty and C. Glynan. Tho eea was very ca.tn, and some good races wo r o rowed. Mr C. Parnhnm officiated as judge.. Afternoon tea was given by tho lady friends of the club. I" tho evenin' a social was held in the boathouse, at which there was a largo attendance.
