Mrs White-Parsons (Dunedin) motored back to Dunedin yesterday with Mr Cyril White-Parsons. Mrs H. Quane and Miss Joan Quane returned to Christchurch yesterday after several months spent in. Australia. Mr and Mrs J. E. Armstrong (Dun-, edin) arrived in Christchurch. on Monday night, and are staying at the Hotel Federal. Mr and Bliss Lewis (Hawke's Bay) left for the north last evening after a long holiday spent in the South Island. Mrs Bernard Wood returned to Christchurch yesterday from Wellington, where she has been staying with Sir Joseph and Lady Ward. Miss Emily Dunham (Sydenham) haa returned after an extended stay in Sydney and South Australia. The engagement, is' announced of Miss Dorothy M'Clatchie, Christchurch, to Dr James Doyle, Melbourne. The musical public of Christchurch will be interested in the debut of Misa Stella Murray, which is to take place at the Choral Hall on Thursday evening. Miss Murray has chosen an interesting programme of songs, and she will be assisted by Mr Charles Schilsky, the violinist, and by Miss Muriel Little, at the piano. Mr A. Worsley will preside at the organ. Miss Stella Murray is a gifted singer, and has a wonderfully rich voice. A most enjoyable day was spent on Monday by the officers of the Divisions of St Jtflin Ambulance Brigade, who were entertained by Captain M'Kinney and the officers of his company at a field day held in the Kaiapoi Domain. A programme of manoeuvres and sports was gone through, the various sections of the company competing for a challenge cup. The different events were ;eenly contested and provided an excellent entertainment lor the visitors. A tasty luncheon was provided, and during the afternoon tea was served. At the close of the day Air H. Thomas, District Superintendent of the Brigade, thanked Captain M'Kinney and his staff for the pleasant and instructive day's outing.
