HOME AGAIN.

INVALIDED SOLDIERS. CANTERBURY AND WEST COAST MEN. A vessel, which arrived at Lyttelton yesterday brought about one hundred wounded and invalided soldiers belonging to various parts of Canterbury and the West Coast. The names of the men appeared in the “Lyttelton Times” of September 9There _ were seven cot cases for the Christchuru’ch Hospital,, and one for Timaru. Only one case is of a serious character, the health of the others being stated to bo good and general improvement maintained. Of the eighty-nine walking cases, fifty-four were for Christchurch and the North Canterbury district, twenty-one for South Canterbury and fourteen were for the West Coast. The men were under the charge of Lieutenant Brammell, Medical Staff Officer. Colonel Chaffey and Major Matthews proceeded to Lyttelton to supervise the disembarkation and entrainment. Everything worked smoothly and well, and a record dispatch of the men was accomplished. The Mayor of Lyttelton (Mr W. T. Lester) extended the soldiers a hearty welcome, and at his call cheers were given for the returned soldiers. Tho Canterbury Automobile Association provided a plentiful supply of motor-cars, and on arrival at the Christchurch railway station just before eleven o’clock, where jovful reunions with relations and friends took place, the local men were quickly accommodated by the association’s members and taken to their homes. The Indies of the local Red Cross Society also attended the station, and served refreshments, particularly to those who were to proceed by district train« later in the day. The Mayor of Christchurch (Mr Holland) was nresent. and welcomed the men on behalf of the city. The local ambulance waggons, with members of the St John Ambulance Brigade, were also present, anj the cot eases were removed with driontch. The walking cases were chiefly confined to limb injuries. The men were all cheerful.; and.‘ though in many instances still showing traces of the sufferings thev had been' through, they each had a kindlv'Smile and were obviously well nleased to be among their own once more. \

Lance-Corporal Clemens (Newlands), Private Leslie Horisen (Ashburton). J. Smith, (Ashburton), R. Sewell (Mayfield), A. Sutton and S. Cuneen (Tinwald 1 ), returned Soldiers, arrived in Ashburton bv tho express yesterday afternoon, and were welcomed home by the Mavor (Mr R. Galbraith) and several members of tho Patriotic Committee.
