SHIPPING SUPPLY.
NO INDICATION OF REDUCTION.

Referring to the statement of Mr Hoover, United States Food Controller, regarding shipping, the Hon D. H. Guthrie said to-day that he had received no advioe of the intention of the Imperial authorities to divert any ships already promised to New Zealand. Tho arrangements made so far extend only to the end of the year, but nothing has happened tio lead the Government. to suppose that diere will be no ships after that time. Contrariwise, the indications have been ' that there will bo a reasonahlo amount of shipping available for the Now Zealand trado.
WOOL SHIPMENTS. TO BE GIVEN PREFERENCE. The Minister of Imperial Supplies has informed the chairman of the Canterbury Grain Merchants’ Association, Mr 0. H. Hewlett, that, consequent on representations by the London Board of Trado, all woo] possible is to be aliipped to Great Britain, to tba exclusion of general cargo.
