SIX CANDIDATES. [Pur Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 23. The nominations' for the Wellington Central seat are:— William Thomas Hildreth. Cyril William Tanner. Peter Fraser. Matthew Joseph Mack. Harry Atmore. Lindsay John Frederick Garston.
MR MACK’S CANDIDATURE. [Per Press Association.] TIMARU, September 23. The Timaru branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants passed a resolution regretting Mr M. J. Mack’s candidature for Wellington Central, as likely to split the Labour vote and so endanger the prospects M the candidate democratically chosen by. tho Labour bodies.
[Per Press Association.] GREYMOUTH, September 23. At a largely attended meeting of railway workers at Greymouth, the following 'resolution was carried: — “ That, having considered the reply of Mr Mack, general secretary, giving his reasons for contesting the Wellington Central seat in opposition to the official representative of the New Zealand Labour Party, we wish entirely to dissociate ourselves from the action, which is contrary to the wishes of a largo number of railway workers. We believe that any attempt to prolong the life of the present National Government, and consequently the high cost of living, is a calamity from tho point of view of the workers of this Dominion.”
