HOME AGAIN.

RETURNED SOLDIERS ARRIVE IN CITY. About forty sick and wounded soldiers arrived at Lyttelton yesterday morning, and came oiii to Christehurch about eight o'clock. Tho Comforts Department of tho Red Cross Society had arranged for a temporary refreshment room for tho soldiers. The Railway Ambulance Brigade's room on tho railway station was given for the purpose, and there lady attendants served tea, scones and fresh eggs, tho last having been sent from the country. The men evidently appreciated this thoughtfulness, and it is intended, if possible, to make the refreshment room an institution for tho use of all returning soldiers. Some of the men who left for tho south at 12.25 p.m. also were served with soup before leaving. The members of the Canterbury Automobile Association took the Christchurch men to their homes and gave trips to visitors. In the contingent there were fifteen soldiers for Canterbury, four for the West Coast, two for Nelson, and twenty for Otago.

Sergeant E. T. Grigg '(Ashburton) and Trooper M. P. Rooney (Winchmore) returned to Ashburton yesterday by the southern express and were welcomed at the station by the Mayor (Mill. Galbraith) and Mr F. Ferriman. Sergeant Grigg loft with the Main Body, and has served in Egypt, and Trooper Rooney, who is also from Egypt, enlisted with tho Sixteenth Reinforcements but left New Zealand with tho Nineteenth.
