SHIPPING PROBLEM.

♦— — PROSPECTS FOR COMING YEAR. MINISTER'S STATEMENT. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, August 23. Referring to shipping prospects, the Minister in Charge of Imperial Supplies said to-day:— "Up till the end of September we shall probably be able to clear out of cold stores between 6even hundred thousand and eight hundred thousand freight carcases of meat. This will relieve the situation considerably, and by tho end of December it is hoped there will be available for tho removal of moro frozen meat 5,800,000 cubic feet of insulated space on outward steamers. " Nothing definite can be said about the coming year, but the prospects are that the spaco available for frozen produce from Australasia will be 20,0Q0,000 cubic loot for tho year. This should mean that Now Zealand, with its production, should get about half of the spaco. If these prospects materialise we shall be loft at the end of next year in very little worse position than that in which wo find ourselves at present."
