BENZINE DESTROYED.

[Pjjr Prkss Association.] AUCKLAND, August 13

A serious fire occurred to-day,, befcfloen b'evo.'i and eight thousand cases of benzine being destroyed. Tho alarm "'as given at ten o'clock, the building being enveloped before' the brigade could arrive '.['he benzine, which was owned by Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., was insured for £BOOO in tho Commercial Union Assurance. The building,, owned by Mr E. Porter, was valued at between £3OO and £-100. It was totally destroyed. A smaller building, also owned by Mr Porter, containing the following stocks of benzine, Messrs Dexter and Crozier 45 coses, A. B. Donald 220 cases and Porter and Co. 40 cases, also ignited, but tho stock was saved. Neither building was ms tired.
