SPRINGS SOLDIERS.

ROLL OF HONOUR UNVEILED. On Tuesday evening, the Public Hull at Springston was crowded out on the occasion of the unveiling of the Springs Patriotic Association's roll of honour and a welcome home to a number of returned soldiers, the latest to arrive being Privates A. M'Gregor, A Kuwen. S. Lugg, T. Kimber, E. Taylor, 0. Newman, H. Marshall and L. Cooper, Tho gathering took the form of a concert, for which an excellent was supplied by the New Zealand farmers' Co-operative Association's Choral Society. Choi uses were given by the members under\the baton of Mr Jamieson and solo items bv Misses Goodchild, Sprosten and Toon 1 } and Messrs Bartlett and M'Clure. During an interval the Hon C. A. 0 Hardy, M.L.C., unveiled the roll of honour, and after referring to the excellent record of the district in connection with the. call for men, .extended a welcome to the returned, soldiers Mr Hardy preseuted a medal each to Tiivate A. M'Gregor and Private T Kimber, and there were also mednls for liance-Corporal L. Cooper and Troopers S. Lugg and MToulton, all of whom had not received the gift before' leaving the district. Mr I. Andrew, chairman of tiV Ccunty Council, also gave a short address of welcome to the roldiers, an' 1 in doing so said that he did not think any of the men who returned to the district would have any difficulty in finding employment as soon as they were able to work. On the motion of Mr J. W. Kime. a .verv hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the Choral Societv and to owners of the five ours who so willinsrlv motored the- pprfrv cr.it. During supper time Mr Jamieson. of the concert party, on behalf of the Choral Society, presented a silverteounted baton to Mr- Kitto, who had been instrumental in getting thp members together and in training them.
