SALVATION ARMY.

DIVISIONAL CONGRESS. In connection with the Divisional Congress of the Salvation Army Commissioner Hodder met the officers of the local corps at a tea on Saturday afternoon. The commissioner gijve an address on “The Principal Tenets of tho Salvation Army,” and also spoke on the evangelistic campaign which is to bo launched bv the Army throughout the Dominion shortly. . In the evening a festival of music and song was given in the main hall of the Citadel. Commissioner Hodder presided over a largo attendance 'of members of the Army , and friends. Songs were contributed by the Linwood Songsters, Christchurch Songsters, Christchurch Bible Class and ‘united companies, a quartette by the Quartette Party, a recitation by Adjutant Middlemiss, clarinet solo by St rtf-Cap-tain Thurkettle, a Scripture reading by Mrs Hodder, a dialogue by Adjutant Middlemiss anfi company, a banjo solo by Staff Captain Taylor, a pianoforte solo by Kceble Thurkettle, instrumental quartette by City bandsmen, and selections by the United and Mandolin Bands.

The congress was concluded yesterday, when special evangelistic services, constituting a “ Battle for Semis,” were hold at the Citadel in the morning, afternoon and evening. There were good attendances at each service, frith a specially large attendance in the evening. Vigorous and stirring addresses were dc!ivered-bv Commissioner Hodder, Colonel M’lnnes. Mrs M’lnries and local officers, and the proceedings throughout were characterised by much enthusiasm.
