AMUSEMENTS.

OPERA HOUSE. At the Opera House at 7,45 to-night th« Walter Johnson Company will present its second revue of the season, "The Monte Carlo Girl." The play is said to have a coherent plot, and pretty stage settings and catchy vocal choruses afford ample opnortunity for the ballet to be seen to advantage. In this play Walter Johnson appears in a new role, a voluble and successful manufacturer of pills, and his work is said to stamp him as a comedian of much ability. Suitable parts also have been allotted the other principals, Lola Hunt, Lydia Came, Stella Starr, Gus Franks, Harry Burgess, Ernest Lashbrook and Frank Neill. The finale is said to be a particularly picturesque scene The stage ia ablaze with featOMU of multi-coloured electric globes, among which swing girU on ladders of roses, and high in the centre upon a huge replica of a wineglass Lydia Came gives an artistio display of her terpsichoTean art. The vaudeville section of the bill will comprise turn* by the Musical Bentleys, Maud Courtney and Mr C. and the Three Cam. The box plan is at Milner and Thompson's. To-morrow afternoon a matinee performance- will o« given.

STRAND THEATRE. At the Strand Theatre to-morrow will t« presented "The Varmint," claimed to be th* best boarding school etory depicted on the screen, and abounding with schoolboy pranks. The author and composer who formulated " High Jinks" is also responsible for "You're in Love." and great as was. the success- oi " High Jinks,' it is said to ba eclipsed so far by " You're in Love." The vocal bnrden of the piece falls upon Maude Fane' and William Greene. Field Fisher has K radoe study as the bo-sun of the High Hope, and Alfred Frith is the nm-away husband, Aloysius Wix. of Connie Ediss, who appears as a man-hater. Cecil Bradley has * delightful ingenue part. There are several specialty dances, one being by La Shela, entitled" " Victory.' La Shola has sppeflttrf successfully nt Coven* Garden, London, and nl»o at the Palace Theatre. Jack Hooker, Tom Preston and D. Wells have a comic ?ailor dance, and Madge Elliott a solo dance.
