News has been received in Wellington that Mr E. D. Hoben, of the editorial staff of the Melbourne Herald a former New Zealand journalist, who has been ill for some months, is no better. His condition is reported to bo very grave.
On the eve. of his departure for camp last week Mr Patrick was presented by his late employers, Messrs bough and Son with a luminous wristlet watch, and by his fellow-employees with a leather money belt.

Mr C. H. Howorth. Tho Rev W. Braniwell Scott, of Springston. •is in camp at . Featherston as successor to Chaplain a. T Peat who left with a recent reinforcement. 'Mr Scott's place in tho Springston circuit is being supplied until Conference by the Rev Oswald Burnet who returned wounded from the front, but who has so far recovered! that he hopes to take up regular circuit work again after Conference.
