January 26, 1918, from tho High Commissioner for New Zealand. (Note.—Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are averago market prices on spot). Moat—Owing to short supply, all descriptions of meat are in active demand at full prices. New Zealand and Argentine lamb limited amount at tho market, selling at Hid. With reference to my telegram of December 29, imported offal nt maximum prices, samo as before, with the exception of following, amendment:—Ox livers, hearts, boneless beef, sheev> and lamb tongues, lOd, 9d. 18d and 10Jd respectively. Butter and Cheese—Market remains unchanged, small EUpply selling at maximum prices. Hemp—Manila and New Zealand, no change since last report. Market quiet and email business doing. Wheat—Market very quiet, and nothing doing owing to the absence of offers. Official quotations have not been altered. Oats—Market quiet, with no alteration in prices.
