INVERCARGILL, Jahuary 28. ' A lire broko out at a quarter past one on Monday morning in stables behind the Elbow Hotel, Lumsden. Tha flames spread rapidlv and destroyed tho Post Office, Griffiths’ drapers’ shop, and Marshall’s butchery, bparks lodged on the railway station several tunes but the building escaped. ElbovT Hotel escaped with a soorehing.
