The University Senato resolved that the following should be added to the regulations for the matriculation examination :—A candidate of mature years may pass the matriculation examination in two sections. Two or more subjects shall constitute a section, and the remaining subjects shall constitute the second section. That the two senior scholarships shall no longer be awarded specifically for mathematics and physics respectively, but shall in future be awarded to such candidates, in whatever subject as may seem to the Senate most deserving. The report by the Entrance Examination Committee was explained by Professor Segar and Dr Anderson. It fnalces science compulsory in matriculation On all candidates taking the minimum number of subjects, with the proviso that by taking extra subjects the candidate may escape science. The report as a whole was referred back to the committeo to consider an amendment by Mr Tibbs, to the effect that candidates for matriculation mighttake physios and chemistry.
