Mr A. "VY. Rutherford (Mendipi Hills' is at present on a visit to Cbr'tf church.
The Rev W. Ready has .accepted a unanimous invitation from ..the Kaiapoi Methodist Church to become minister in charge of the church, as successor to the lato Rev P. TV. F!airclough. Mr A. M’Clure, Ashburton, received advice on Tuesday that his sou, Sergeant W. M’Clure, who left with tho Twelfth Reinforcements, has been awarded the Military Medal for gallantry on the field of action. Sir Joseph Ward,. Lady Ward and Mrs B. B. Wood arrived.; in , Christchurch by the 5.8 p.m. train yesterday from their southern trip. Sir Joseph Ward will spend to-day m Christchurch and will leavo this evening for Wellington. He will receive a deputation on the running of the port trains at 11 a.m.
Mrs Hodgkinson, of 8, Harper Street, Upper Riccarton, has been -Hlvised by the Minister of Defence tb Sergeant Claude H. Kidman has been awarded the Military Medal for gallantry on the field of action. Sergeant Kidman left New Zealand with the Main Body, leaving this country on October 16, 1914, with the Mounted Field. Ambulance, and has been on active service ever since.
