MAGISTRATE'S COURT
CHRISTCHURCH. Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court on Saturday. William Herbert Blackley Nolan, a third offender, was fined 10s and costs for drunkenness. F. D. Kesteveu (Mr C. S. Thomas) claimed from H. Burridge the sum of £2O under a judgment summons. Debtor did not appear, and was ordered to pay the amount forthwith, in default twenty days' imprisonment. Mrs Elizabeth Hubaud claimed £1 under a judgment summons from Miss Teny, who was ordered to pay the amount, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. In the judgment summons ease of A. Cameron (Mr C. S. Thomas) v. W. Palmer, a. claim for £9 14s, the debtor did not appear and was ordered to pay the amount forthwith, in default fourteen davs' imprisonment. Bell Bros (Mr C. S. Thomas) claimed from John Burgess £27 10s, under a judgment summons. Debtor, who did not appear was ordered to pay forthwith, in default twcoity-seven <la,ys' imprisonment. LYTTELTOX. Mr L. A. Stringer, J.P.. and Captain R, Hatchwell. J.P.. presided at the Lyttelton Magistrate's Court on Saturday. William Arthur Comfort, charged with stealing two Jib tins of cocoa, valued at 4s 9d, boinsj broached cargo, was convicted and fined 40s, in default fourteen days' imprisonment. ASHBUKTON. Mr A. M'Clure. J.P., and Mr R. Clark, J.P., presided at the Asbburton Magistrate's Court on Saturday. Richard Wai'lburton, alias "Williams, alias Dick Swivellcr, appeared on remand charged with using obscene language on December 11. After evidence had been heard accused was .sentenced j to sis months' imprisonment with hard | labour. j
