TENNIS.
PAPARUA CLUB. A meeting of tho committee of management of tho Paparus, Tennis Club was hold at tho courts on Tuesday evening.. Mr G. M’Nally presided. 'Reference was njado to the death in action of Private E. Manhire, a past active and valued member of the club. Private Manhire is the second member of the club to make tho supreme sacrifice. Resolutions of sympathy were also passed to the relatives of the late Private L. Corbett, recently reported killed in action, and Sergeant N. M'Guinness, wounded (second; occasion). The following were elected members of the club: —Misses R. M’M-eekan, H. Durham, D. and M. Coulter and D. Roden. It was decided to purchase poles and awning for overhead covering for peats on tho grounds. A letter was received from the Hornby School Committee, asking the club’s co-operation in tho proposed garden fete and fancy fair to be hold early next month to raise funds for a soldiers’ memorial. It was decided to assist the committee as far as practicable. Mr A. Spicer was elected club captain for tho ensuing year.
