SELF DENIAL APPEAL.

STREET COLLECTION TO-DAY. The annual self-denial appeal of the Salvation Army is now being made, and this year it will bo an appcvl largely on behalf of tho war work that "tho" Army" is doing on all fronts. In New Zealand also the officers havo boon assiduous in their work for soldiers, and tho work in the camps is almost too well-known to call for reference. Tho Salvation Army has been serving tho national cause with huts for soldiers, rest rooms, hostels for men on leave, ambulance units manned by Salvationists, canteens and hostels for munition workers, missing friends bureaux, and so on. To the Salvation Army fell the honour of opening the first hostel in London for troops, while tho relief agencies aro legion. Tho Salvation Army will make a street appeal for funds to-day, issuing badges to all contributors.
