In that city h- receiv-d valuable assistance from the head of the Science Division of th" New York Public Library, and Dr Arctowski, formerly Meteorologist ; with the B°lc:ian exnedition to An- ; tarctica. Flight-Lioutenant N. R. Davennort, R.N., of Auckland, who was badly smashed in a seaolan* accident in the ' North S?a about a year aco, is returnino' to New Zealand. Mr Davenport has for the last six months on Home service, attached to th- staff I of the Aeronautical Tnsnection Department (Ministry of Munitions), engaged in testing aero-engines but as his h'nlbh has been far from satisfactory d"rin<r the period, it is n-w thought advisable th it he shouM return home, and he has. therefore, taken his discharge. Mr W. H. Da'-en'Mjrt. the well-known of Auckland, brother of FMght-Lieutena'it Davenport, is also in England, unfortunately in hospital at i Brnckenhnrst. suffering from a wound i obtained while on errvice in France. i Mr W. H. Davenport has been for the ' last two vars driving a motor ambulance in Efvpt and Franco. Cantain Robert R. Briffault, of Auckland, the well-known surgeon, now serving with the R.A.M.fJ.
