OBITUARY.

HENRY PANNETT. Mr Henry Pannett, a well-known Canterbury farmer, died at his residence, Day’s Road, Spriugston, yesterday. Air Pannett who was torn in Sussex in 1839, arrived in New Zealand bv the.ship Lady Nugent-in 1851. In 1855 lie entered tho service of tho late Air R. Chapman, of Springbank, and remained with him for eight years. In 1802 Mr Pannett took up land in the Lincoln district, hut in 1877 disposed of it io the Canterbury Agricultural College, and then acquired the property on which he resided till his death. His herd of Shorthorn cattle and flock of Southdown sheep were noteworthy throughout the Dominion. Mr Pannett was married in 1862 to Aliss Durey and had one son and three daughters.
