On the Ypres front tho Germans launched a number of determined counter-attacks on tlie new positions taken by the British, but all the attacks were repulsed with heavy losses, without any advantage to the enemy. East of St Julien the British took some strong points on their immediate front. RUSSIAN SITUATION. General Alexiev has resigned the post of Chief of Staff under M. Kerensky. A Stockholm report states that a coun-ter-revolution plot has been discovered in Tobolsk, where the Czar is interned, and many officers have been arrested. The Germans claim to have captured Jacobstadt.
