Mr J. R. Triggs, Conciliation Commissioner, left for Dunedin by yesterday’s express.

Mr J. Lippo, of the Mount Cook guides’ staff, is at present visiting Christchurch.

Dir R. Marshall, of the Invercargill Tourist staff, has been appointed to tho staff of tho Christchurch Tourist Bureau.

Colonel Diamond. Captains Whitton and Reynolds', Lieutenant Bachelor and Sergeant-Major Clarke, of tho First Medical Board, loft for Wellington last night on their .way to Nelson. Prior to his departure for camp last evening Mr Eric Gardiner was presented by the firm and staff of Messrs John Bates and Co. with a wnstiet watch, safety razor and money belt, accompanied by best wishes for his sate return.

Dr Thacker left Wellington for tho south last night to visit Hanmer, owin" to the serious illness of his sister. Miss Thacker, the,first white child born in Canterbury. Her parents came out in one of tho first four ships or the Canterbury Association.

Advico has been received in Christchurch that Sergeant G. F. Gray, ot the staff of the legal firm of Messrs Franks, Hunter and Lvon, who went on active service with the Eighth Reinforcemeats and has been on tiie staff or tho Headquarters in France, has received a commission.

Private W. Whitby, of tho Thirtyfirst Reinforcements, was entertained bv friends at a farewell gathering held at tho residence of Mr T. C. Hoefson, Aldwiu’s Road, Woolston, on Saturday evening. Private Whitby was present-? ed during tho evening with a caso o. razors, handed to him by Mr J, L. Hobson on bohalf of friends and relatives. Songs were contributed by Mrs Lutten, Misses E. Taylor, O. Chaplin and Moodie, and Messrs 1. Cooper, J. Lutten. J. Spencer, T. Ollivor, S. Stewart G. Whit-ton and A. Dunkley, and recitations by Mr Glubb. Mr Spencer played the accompaniments.
