BILLIARDS.
AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP. The tenth round-of the Alcock Cryetalate Amateur Billiard Championship of Christchurch was played on Thursday night. Tho principal game was that between Martin and Barritt, at tho Richmond Working Mens' Club, and a large attendance assembled to witness the play, Neither plaver, however, was at his best, with the result that no big breaks were registered, with the exception of one by Martin of 53. The final scores were—Martin SOO, Barriu •245. The best breaks were:—Martin 55, 38, 21, 20 and ' 19; iSarritt, 27, 24,"23 and 19. The other games resulted as follows:—Williams 300 beat Edwards 97, Piercy 300 beat Wise 178, Bickerdike 300 beat Foulkes 127, Sefton won by default, and the Cullen v. Hawker game was postponed. The competition is- now at an interesting stage. There is one more round to play. Bickerdiko has not lost a game, Martin has lost ono, and these two players meet each other at the Returned Scldiers' Club toThe draw for tho eleventh round, which wjll *«ke nlace to-night, is m foil"-" •-- Barritt v.
