SUDDEN DEATH OF CONSTABLE.

Constable F. Y • Hanlon, aged thirtrv-seven, died suddenly in a chemist’s shop last night-. He had complained of difficulty m breathing, ■md while waiting for medicine expired. Constable Hanlon had been previously Stationed at Wellington and, Okarito. Ho leaves a, widow find two young children.

MOTOR-OAR ACCIDENT. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, July 11

A serious accident- occurred in the Taita Gorgo to a- motor-car earrj-ing a party to-the races. The car skidded over*a bank 20 feet high. _Miss Anstico and Miss Egan were injured and removed to frentham Hospital. Miss Anstice was found to bo suffering from a fractured rib, injury to the lung and shock. Her condition is considered grave. Miss Egan also had a rib fractured. but was able to return to the city- The other occupants of the car wero unhurt. CYCLIST INJURED. A man named Robert Miller, who lives at- 12, St John’s Street, Papanui, when cycling across • the Montreal Street bridge about 5.25-p.iu. yesterday. collided with a motor-car driven by Mr D. Mulliolland. of Barfield. Mr Miller was injured, but it is believed not seriously. He was taken to tho Hospital, where he was reported last night to lie improving. MOTOR MISHAP. A motor accident occurred at the Rangilata bridge. Arundel, on Sunday, when Mr and Mrs Beech,-of Kinepont, Marlborough, had a, very narrow escape. They were travelling north from Geraldine in their car, and when turning on to the bridge the ear struck i nc,st, which prevented tlm motor from going over the hank. The radiator was tiwisted, and the wind screen shattered. Mrs Beech was struck with the flying glass, receiving a nasty cut oti tho face, which necessitated- sonm stitches, hut otherwise the occupants escaped injury.
