' ' During tho month of June, two boxes ol artic.es woro sent from tho Lyttelton Red Cross Depot to Christchurch, containing tho following:—s3 pairs pyjamas, 11 pairs underpants, 33 vests, 6 bed coats, 4 day shirts, 4 nightshirts, 41 pairs socks, 7 pairs bed socks, l\ dozon and 2 face cloths, 31 knitted face cloths, 24 dozen and 10 handkorchiofs, 4 dozen treasure bags, 16 scarves, ,4 dozen and 3 pillow cases, 4 bottle covers, 27 girdles, i balaclavas, 1 dozen collars, 1 dozen slings, 1 bundlo of old linen, 1 bundle of books; Sewing and knitting was undertaken by the following:—Mesdamc3 Irwin, V. WOOLSTON.

Tho annual meetine of the Woolston Rod Cross Branch wa3 held in the Oddfellows' Hall on Tuesday evening. Air W. Gatehouse presided, and there was a fairly largo attendance of ladies.

The secretary reported that during tho year thirty committee meotinga had been held. Regret was expressed at tho loss of the services of tho Rov J. Roberts and of Miss O. Smith, but the committee waa pleased to welcome several new workers. Tho banciago class regretted that it had had to discontinue making bandages. Tho credit balanco was doublo that of last year. A pleasing feature of tho yoars work had been tho financial assistance rendered to tho branch by tho young folk of Woolston. Tho committeo also thanked . tho Woolston Borough Council and tho Library Committeo for tho use of us rooms. The financial statement showed the receipts to have been £419 fa ljd and tho expenditure £291 3s 7Jd. leaving a credit balance of £l2B Os 6d. During- tho year the following articles had been sent to the central depot:—lll2 handkerchiefs, 4710 swabs. 1094 bandages, 595 curgical veils, 439 washers, 325 scarves, 137 pairs socks, 125 wound cloths, 80 pairs of mittens, 82 treasure bags and numerous other articles. Tho estimated value of tho articles was £392 12s. Tho report and balance-sheet wore adopted. A letter was received from Mr J. B. Johns, on behalf of Misses Muriol and Hilda Johns, forwarding £5 as tho result of a concert given by them. A vo*o of thanks vas passed to; tho two secretaries for their work during the year. It was reported that the' fol.owing articles had been made during tho past four months: —32 suits pyjamas, 18 shirts, 23 vests, 21 pairs of pants, 14 pairs of socks, 1 dressing coat, 1 waistcoat, ti body belts, 6 dozen handkerchiefs, 5 dozen washers, 6 slips, 15 dozen face cloths, 18 girdles, 0 treasure bags, 1 dozen pillow cases. Tho school children had been' very busy, and their work was very creditable. They had made S 6 handkerchiefs, 4S faco cloths, 6 scarves, 3 treasure bags and 1 dozen washers.'
