In Brussels in mid-November food was scarce and deal*. Beef and pork, when they could be obtained, were about 6s per lb, beef suet 12s pei* lb, and dripping, for which there was a great seldom seen. Flour, only supplied in small quantities, was about 2s a lb; bread of poor quality. Coffee was 5s a lb; sugar 2s a lb; rice, tapioca and macaroni' about 3s a lb; Boap 4s a lb.
