OVERSEAS CLUB.

AEROPLANE DAY NEXT FRIDAY. Tho committee of the Christehurch blanch of the Overseas Club met last) nglit, -Mr 11. Lightband presiding. In discussing the next general meeting, tho chairman said that the club was drifting to leeward a bit, -with liabilities of £55 Is lid, and a credit balance, of £23. There was in hand, however, a credit balance in the Aeroplane Fund of £139 18s, in addition to £2O in cash. There were not many outstanding subscriptions. Tho secretary (Mr T. M. Charters) said that the question of charging for the meetings would have to be considered, at all events for visitors. Mr A. Kaye said that he was amazed at the confidence of the club, and a debit balance seemed inevitable. The chairman s-iicl that a concert, arranged for April, was bound to help the club forward, although it was not a form of revenue to be. relied -iipou. In reply to a question by Mr J. F. Gfierson, the chairman said that he did not think that a mistake had been made in launching the aeroplane fund, and he was in favour o*f going into the country with the appeal. It was Canterbury's last chance to fall in line with other clubs, and such a rich province should easily lind one aeroplane. Mr Kaye said that the success of the monthly meetings having been established, it would be reasonable to make a charge. The matter was held over. An -appeal for lady helpers was received from Miss Denniston, of the Ladies' Committee, in connection with the aeroplane fund appeal to be made next Friday. It was stated that Messrs Dexter and Crazier had lent an aeroplane, which would be mounted in Cathedral Square, and the engine run at intervals. Lady helpers to be on duty at intervals from 11.30 a.m. till 8.30 p.m. were requested to comitfunicaU with Mis s Denniston. '
