It transpires that-the steamer Warrimoo which was built at Newcastle m 1892 by Messrs C. S. Swan and Hunter, and was owned by the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Limited, was sold- to a Chinese firm in the Straits Settlements for £58,000. The vessel, which was registered at Dunedin, is of 3528 gross and 207 b net tons. THE TEACHING OP RUSSIAN. ' At a meeting of the Council' of the Hull Chamber of Commerce and Shipping recently, the president announced that Captain barnman, a local shipowner, had promised a gift of £IO,OOO to form an endowment fund for the teaching of the Russian language to Hull students.
