THE SEPARATED MARRIED MAX.
... ,T/ TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Now that the Government is calling all single men to the colours, U 1 would like to direct your attention to' • the large body, of men to whom the! term “shirker” might be most eorlectly applied, and yet who are at present immune from the risks of the bal- r\ lot. I refer to the number of married men who live apart from. and do not contribute to the support of their..-.; wives. The Government should' take /.h steps to include these “shirkers” in the First Division, and so prevent them .y from sheltering behind a woman. These shirkers exist, as our G'oprt. cases re- ~.-, veal, ancT as those who hide behind a woman are neither of use or ornament, I claim they should at least take their chance with the many single men... y who have responsibilities, and who we know are not real shirkers.—l am. o;c., ,/y PRO BONO PUBLICO. (Unless they have children under six- : ’ teen years of age, married men who ;tjare separated from their wives come - into the First Division of the. Reserve.—Ed. “L.T.”)
