NEAV ZEALAND SELECTIONS. CANTERBURY COLLEGE STUDENT. [Pee Prbss Association.] AVELLINGTON, November 24. The New Zealand Rhodes Scholars for 1917 will be Arthur Osoorne Ponder, 8.A., of Canterbury College, and Alexander Francis Meldrum, of Victoria College, AYellington. Both men are now serving with the Expeditionary Forces. ((Mr Arthur Ponder is a son of Mr A. R. Ponder, Rugby Street, Merivale, and is twenty-two years of ago. He was born in Christchurch, and attended the High School. He was a brilliant student, gaining several scholarships and honours.. He. enlisted with the Kirl of Liverpool's Own Riilo Regiment. Ho left in October, 1915. Recently he injured his knee in an accident that occurred while he was iu the trenches, but a private cablegram received this week stated that ho had recovered and would shortly rejoin his regiment. His selection as a Rhodes Scholar will meet with general approval in Canterbury collegiate circles.) .
