SHELL-PROOF ZEPPELINS.

The Berlin correspondent of the “New York Sun ” gives some interesting details regarding alleged improvements in the latest Zeppelins, chiefly in the direction of greater carrying capacity and increased protection against the effects of shell fire by antiaircraft guns. A naval officer who commanded a super-Zeppelin in a recent attack on England tokl the correspondent that the British defensive measures certainly showed a marked improvement recently, the use of the searchlights in particular having been much more effectively organised, and every effort was now being made to increase the protection on the airships, . The officer frankly admitted (hat the Zeppelins are obliged now to fly at a great altitude, and that anything like accurate aim with their bombs was difficult, but he claimed (as might be expected) that.bombs dropped “generally reached their mark.” The officer added that, the Zeppelins had now reached such a pitch of perfection that travelling in them, apart from the risks of war, of course., was perfectly safe, and he was convince?! that a trip across the Atlantic would present no difficulties, unless weather of a particularly unfavourable kind were enoountered.
