COUNTY COUNCILS.

EYRE. Tho Eyre County Council met last week, present— Messrs Richard Evans (in "the chair). R. 0. Dixfti, A. J. Rich, R, Ward, C, M’lntosh and F. G. Horrcll. It was resolved that the council should support the Rotorua Chamber of Commerce in utilising -prison labour for making and 'maintaining arterial roads throughout the Dominion. It was resolved that £26 5s Id should bo paid into .the North Canterbury Patriotic Fund, to he charged to tho Eyre Riding. It. was agreed that, the annual meeting should ho held at the council otfiee on Wednesday, November 22, at noon.. . If was resolved that the council should guarantee £4')o' lo instal electric .light into Snevd Street and Church Settlement providing the chairman and Mr Rich could,place a sound business proposition before the council. It wrs decided to approve 'of the collection of old iron throughout tho county, and that til moneys received from the iron 'should he paid into the Central Red Cross Society. Accounts amounting to £lB9 11s 8d were parsed- for payment.
