SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
PAPANUL The Papsnut School Committee met on !kßoriday evening; Hookham chairman), Holmes, Barnes, Mackay, Pye, Patrick, Withorington and Burborough. Six [nn3 was appointed secretary in place of Mr iianheill resigned. A circular was received :rom the Board of Education stating that a letter had boen received from Dr Ohesson, District Health. Officer, pointing out "the importance of giving schools a thorough cleansing and alscplenty of air.so as to keep the rooms sweet. . The board further stated that ,t had under consideration tho question of reducing the incidental allowances to school sommittees. • Tho committee strongly resent:d the proposed reduction, as it would be mabie to meet its liabilities. The secretary woe instructed to write to tho board to ihat effect. * The board further wrote stating that arrangements would be , made for taking Standard' 111. at the Bligh's Road School after the matter has been placed be'ore the board it its next. meeting. The. board also stated that the sum of £27 15s had been paid into the bank to the committee's credit. The head master reported that during the month of September the lumber on the roll for tho main sohool was Jf7l, with an average attendance of 248. At :he Bligh's'Road'School there were 147 oh ihe roll and the average attendance was 132. 4. letter was received from the Waimairi Sounty CoUncil stating'.that it could not spend money on the by-road of Bligh's Road until it had been dedicated to the:council. <V deputation from tho committee, including Mr Hawke, member .sf the County Council, was appointed to interview the board in coriaection with the matter. Miss Burrener, mistress of Bligh's Road School, in her report mentioned that she had collected in the sohool for "Our Day" the xlso that an entertainment was being prepared for of tho Red Cross end Pia no Funds. The eirxth standard girls had forwarded to Mrs Orbell for the Red Cross 18 pairs bed socks, 1 faoe cloth and 5 pairs, mittens. Accounts to the amount ■of • £ll Is '7d were passed for payment. ■
