DRAGGED TO DEATH.

YOUNG MAN'S TRAGIC END. Albert Milne M'Kenzie, aged about twenty years, son of Mrs M. M'Kenzie, 165, Armagh Street, met his death yesterday afternoon. The young man was employed by Mr A. B. L. Smith, coal merchant, of Barbadoes Street, and at 4.15 p.m. was sont to take a horse to a paddock in' Stnpleton's Road, Richmond. Ho left on a bicycle, loading the horse. About five minutes later Sir James Wilson, of 336, Tuam Street, saw the horse galloping along North Avon Road dragging M'Kenzie. Ho was dragged along Stapleton's Road, and in turning a corner his head struck a culvert with great forco. Tho horse, still dragging tho body, galloped on into Hill's Road, where the animal was stopped by Mr Henry Voyce, of Westby Street, Woolston. Mr'Voyce then saw that M'Kenzie had the rope tied round his wrist. The body was terribly bruised. Tho police were informed, and Constable M'Lcod, of Richmond, removed tho body to the Morgue, where an inquest will bo held to-day at noon. Deceased's brother, Mr Alec M'Kenzie, is well known in local and Dominion rifle shooting circles, having attended the Bisley meeting sorao years ago. Another brother, Mr Donald M'Kenzie. went away with the Expeditionary Force. The family is well known in Oamaru.
