MARKET REPORTS.

GBAIN AND' PRODUCE. CHRISTCHUBCH, October 3. Tho wheat market, shows no change from last report. Merchants report tho purchase of small lines of "odds and ends" of wheat from farmers, but there is very little offering. No merchant or miller appears to be looking for business sufficiently to advance the price, -and holdero aro apparently content to wait. The generu! opinion seems to be that, in view of the reported excess, there will bo little movement in tho markot this year, but it is always risky to mako predictions concerning the grain market. The Koromik'j, loading to-day, is taking a fair quantity of wheat for northern porta. Thero" is a decidedly firmor tone in the oat market, due to buyinp; operations in the south. The contracts made for forward supplies by northern houses have iu many cases expired and tho ruorchanis now have to come on to the South Island market for supplies. Tho activity does not affect Christchuroh very much, as Canterbury has practically no oats '- , Potatoes remain at tho level of baturdays quotation, up to £6 15s a, ton. There are verv few offering* Orders continue- to come forward from the North Island, but not for large quantities."
