THE "CANTERBURY TIMES."

THIS WEEK'S WAR ILLUSTRATIONS. Probably at no time during the progress of the war have the operations of the Allies been watched' more closeiy than at the present. In keeping the public, fully informed on the latest ' incidents of the / great struggle the "Canterbury Times" holds tho premier position in regard to the publication of illustrations touching the more important movements in connection with the triumphal progress of our Allied armies. .Nearly everyone has in mind the brilliant dash of the Allied soldiers when they scored a decisive • victory at the capture of Mametz. This was a magnificent effort, and the scene just before the surrender of the Germans is graphically depicted by means of a full-page picture, showing our bombers advancing through tlu> ruined streets. Three pictures that will appear on tho same page show a review of the Canadian troops by Mr Lloyd George and General Sir S. Hughes, and a panoramic view of tho record parade of the Christchurch Territorial Cadets in Hr.glcy Park a few days ago. Another most instructive picture will be that showing a British attack upon the German trenches, locating the fires lit by the enemy along thoir lines, with tho object of lifting the gas clouds over their heads.' Other war pictures will includo the interior of a mine crater, a sample of the "'iron ration" which is being daily served up to the Huns, an Indian Hotchkisa gun company at work, a view of the ruius of Mametz after its cap-' tiuare, and a picture of the woods in which terrific lighting took placo before tho Germans were driven out. Numbers of other views, including many of purely local interest, will also appear, the subjects covering a wide range that oanno-:- fail to enlighten readers and h::'r> them to realise tho magnitude of the war operations. Tho next issus of the "Canterbury Times" will bo one of especial merit. The literary pages will h« found bountifully supplied with all tit-;" is latest and bes'b in the way of wholesome reading matter. Th* "Canterbury Times," the premier illustrated journal, will be on sale locally from noon to-morrow.
