PUBLICATION OF NUMBERS. i*' ' A Colonel Chaffer, Officer CofiinMmdiijg , the Canterbury Military District, in- ■ formed a reporter yesterday, that he had received an intimation that the new regulations governing the publication • , of news concerning the recruiting pro- • gress of the various Reinforcements had been relaxed, and in future the previous system of publishing the district quotas And the llamas of the departing recruits would be followed'. The only exception to the prevjqus facilities \vt*ald be that no. publication - of the numbers required for tho various branches of military service would b 9 allowed. The total of the district quota fixed could be published, but; not the number attached to the jnfautry, the artillery or any other brancohs. Colonel Chaffey added that the pew recruiting scheme was working smoothly and well in the district. ‘ , /
