MARKET REPORTS.

EGGS. At tho saleyards yesterday there was a fair entry of good class birds, and high prices were again obtained. Leghorn roosters sold at Gs 6d to 7s lid, hens 6s lid to Bs, nineweek ducklings 8s and small late pullets 7s 3d—all at per pair. First grade eggs realised is Id a dozen, second grade is and duck eggs Is ljd. ASHBURTON. Thei-e was a yarding of 1729 sheep at the weekly stock sale held at tho Timvald yards yesterday, as compared with 891 at the Ashburton yards the previous week. Thiß included 179 fat ewes, ICS fat wethers, 20 fat hoggets and 1365 store slioep. With only butchers operating, and their supplies being filled from outside sources, there was very little demand, and 53 ewes and 104 wethers were passocl at auction. Prices were slightly easier, best ewes making up to 30s fld, wethors to 33s and hoggets to 23s 3d. The following piices were obtained: —Best owes 26s to 30s 9d, others 23s Gd to 24s Gel; best wethers 31s to 335, others 27s Id to 28s 9d; hoggets 22s Cd to 235. 3d. Tho principal sales were:—Ewes —8 'at 24s 6d, 12 at 23s Gd, 13 at 23s 7d, 7 at 2Gs, 15 at 23s 6d, 20 at 23s lOd, 10 at 30s 9d, G at 23s 9d, 7at 2fis Gd. Wethers—l3 at 28s 9cl, 25 at 375, G at 335, 6 at 28s, boggots 18 at 23s 3d. Tho yarding of store sheep included 407 hoggets and 31fi wethers, the balance being ewes in lamb and with lambs at foot. There was a fairly good demand ( for hoggets, and ovory lot submitted was/ sold at auction. Among the passings wero a lino of two, four, six and eight-tooth ewes in lamb at 34s 9d. The passings totalled 841. Sales were:—2G three-quarter-bred ewe hoggets at 23s 4d, 62 at 25s 9d, 123 at 24s lid, 184 three-quarter-bred wether lioggcls at 22s Gd, 8G failing-mouth half-bred ewes and 37 lambs (all counted) at las Gd, 79 full and failingmouth half-bred ewes and 88, lambs (all counted) atT7s.

Tho yarding oi cattle was the largest seen at the Ashburton market for some considerable time. Fat. cattle Were in keen demand and practically the whole of tho yarding was cleared at current rates. Mr W. T. Lill, of Willowby, topped the market in fats with a steer which made £l7. Fat steers sold at £G 2s Gd to £l4 10s, fat cows £7 10s to £ll 17s, store heifers £3 2s Gd to £4 17b, larger sorts £5 5s Gd to £G 15s. store steers £3 7s to £5 2s Gd, cows in profit £4 to £9, cows iu full profit £l4, springing fioifers £4 10s to £5 10s, springing cows £G, dry cows £6 7s Gd, Holstein cows £5 12s Gd, Holstein bulls (yearlings) £2, £3 3s and £5 ss.

DUNEDIN, September 2tf. Fat cattle—224 wore yarded. The quality was fairly good and competition was fairly keen. Prices were about the same as those of last week. Best bullocks £l7 10s to £2O, extra prime £23, medium £ls’ to £l6 10s, light and unfinished £l2 to £l4, best cows and heifers £l2 10s fo £l4 10s, extra prime £l7 12s Gd, medium £9 10s to £ll 10s, others £B. Fat sheep—2s2B were penned, chiefly lightweight wethers. Competition was good. A fair proportion of light and medium quality was secured by graziers. Prices were about the same as last week’s. Best wethers 35s to 38s, extra 42s 9d, medium to good 29s to 335, others 275, best owes 28s to 32s Gd, extra heavy 395, others 265. Lambs—Three new season’s lambs were forward, realising up to 335. Pigs—A small yarding of fats sold under keen competition at last week’s rates. One exceptionally heavy chopper made 191 s. A large yarding of stores met* a good sale.
