PATRIOTIC ROSE CARNIVAL.

TO BE RUN BY DOMAINS BOARD .TXD HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The sub-committee of the Domnins Boaid appointed to ajrange for a rose show in connection with the patriotic rose carnival to be held on, December 6 in the Botanical Gardens in aid of the returned soldiers through tho Citizens' Defence Corps, met the representatives of tho CanterbuVv Horticultural Society last night, with the object of amalgamating the rose Bhow held by that society with tho rose carnival. The Domains Board was represented by Messrs J. Jamieson, Seed, J. Wyn Invin, J. Young, R. Naim and the Canterbury Horticultural Society by Messrs A. R, Kagg,.A. Cant and.J. Timbrell. Mr Jamieson was voted to the chair. . _ Mr Young reported on an interview he had with the representatives of the Horticultural Society regarding that society holding its tobo show in connection with the rose carnival. He said the society was agreeable to hand over the schedule as it stood, tho carnival committee to poy the prize money.- The society also offered tho use oi its vases and help generally. Mr Ragg, on behalf of the society, confirmed Mr Young’s statement, and said the only difficulty was in connection with the issue of members' tickets, but ho had no doubt that could be easily overcome. It was decided to amalgamate the two subcommittees into a committee to control and conduct the rose show, and Mr J. Jamieson was appointed chairman, and Mr J. Timbrell honorary secretary. Tho matter of arranging for tents, tables, etc., and other details was with the honorary secretary and Mr Young. . Messrs Nairn and Wvn Irvin were appointed an Advertising Committee. Tho following officials were appointed: Roses— Judges. Messrs J. T. Sinclair and K. Miller; steward, Mt Seed 1 . Sweet Peas— Judges, Messrs J. Wyn Irwin and Dune; steward, Mr C. G. Clark. Pot Plants Fruit and Vegetables—Judge, Mr Brown; steward, Mr A R Ra"g. Decorative —Judges, Alesdames G. E. Rhodes, A, Boylo and Nairn; steward, Mr F. P. Beckett.
