The Maori will arrive from Wellington today and will sail later for Dunedin, where elie will undergo overhaul. The Mararoa will arrive from the south to-day and .will sail to-night for Wellington. After a run of - thirty-seven hours from Lyttelton, the Karamu reached Greymoutli yesterday. She will return to Lyttelton to-day.

THE DELPHIC. At present discharging Liverpool cargo at Wellington, the Shaw, Savill and Albion. Company’s liner Delphic is due in Lyttelton to-mbrrow. She is in command of Captain "W. A. WESTRALIA NOT TO CALL AT LYTTELTON. The Huddart-Parker Company’s Westralia. which is at present in the north, has been delayed on account of rain, and in consequence sho will not call at Lyttelton on Saturday next. In order to load for Wellington and ports, tho vessel will call at Lyttelton on Wednesday next.

THE MATATUA'S PLIGHT. According to the latest mail advices from London, tho hopes oi salvaging the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Matatua, which is badly ashore in St Mary’s Bay, Newfoundland, are by no means bright. It will be remembered that when loading for Now Zealand in March last the Matatua caught fire *t St John’e, and had to be scuttled. After being raised and partly repaired, she loaded e cargo of timber with a view to proceeding to England for reinsulation' before loading again for Now Zealand, but had tho misfortune to run ashore in St Mary’s Bay, where •fes now lies.

SHIPPING NOTES. The waterfront at Lyttelton yesterday was busy, during the morning no fewer than seven vessels arriving, including the Kier Rimutfcka. After a peiicd of inactivity and idleness, the conditions were decidedly wel-

corned amongst the waterside workers. , The prospects for the next few days are satisfactory, as to-morrow the Delphic is expected, while two colliers are also due. Yesterday morning the New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Rimutaka arrived from Port Chalmers for Homeward loading. The vessel will remain in port until Saturday next. . , Captain Scott, late of the Connna, has taken oommand of the Kamona, vice Captain T. B. Sewell, who has gone ashore. Captain M’Donald, who had command of the Rakanoa during Captain Render's absence on holiday, is ashore at Wellington. ' With a full c.argo of coal, the Union Company’s Koromiko arrived in port yesterday from Newcastle. She iB expected to com pleto discharge on Saturday, and loading operations will then be commenced. Departure for Auckland will probably be taken on Monday next. Captain D. Todd, of the Tofun, will have command of the Mararoa, which is due in Lyttelton to-day from Dunedin. , He will be at Lyttelton by Captain W. Manning and fellow-officers of the Mnori. Mr Duckworth, purser of the Pateena. has gone to Dunedin. Mr Mowatt has filled the vacancy.
