OBITUARY.
G. L. GREENWOOD. A private cablegram from London announces the death at Cambridge of Mr Graham Lord Greenwood, for many roars Official ■ Assighee for tiie Canterbury district. Mr ’ Greenwood was born at Mitcham, Surrey, in 1834, and arrived in Nelson with ins parents in .18-13 by the ship Phoebe. He was educated at St John’s-College, Auck-f . land, and subsequently engaged in sheen and general fanning. Mr Greenwood was very successful on the Collingweod diggings in Nelson, and was after wards appointed clerk to tho Warden and Resident Magistrate's Court at Recfton, serving there and at Aliaura. for three years. In 1875 he was transferred to Oamaru as assistant clerk to tho Magistrate’s Court, and shortly afterwards became clerk of the Court* at Gisborne, where lie also filled tho office of Registrar and Sheriff to the Supremo Court, and many other positions until 1891. In the latter year he was appointed Official Assignee for Christchurch, nud discharged the duties of that position for several years. Some time after his. retirement'ho went to England.
