FAREWELL TO MR E. G. RAWNSLEY.

, PRESENTATION AT SUMNER. Last night tho representatives of the various sports clubs, together with many prominent residents of Sumner, met to say good-bye to Mr E. G. Rawnsley, who is leaving to take up tho managership of Messrs Dalgcty and Co.’s Timaru branch.

The Mayor (Mr J. 13. Laurenson), who presided, stated that for thirteen years Mr Raw ns ley had been one of Sumiief’s foremost citizens. He had been generous to a degree, and held in the highest respect in business centres in the city. Amongst the work the ladies were doing, Mrs R-awnsley had actively associated herself with Red Cross and Liverpool work. On behalf of those present ho asked Mr Rawnsloy’s acceptance of an bak mounted French clock.

Mr G. W. C. Smithson, speaking for the Bowling Club, said that Mr Hawnsley had been their first president and had done his share of the hard worn in the initial stages of the club’s career. He wished their guest and Mrs Rawnsley a happy time in their yew home.

Mr J. B. M. Crawford, secretary of the Richmond Hill Golf Club, stated that Mr Rawnsley, who was president in 1916, had proved himself liberal both in service and in donations. The club would miss him very nttch. On' behalf of the Tenuis and Croquet Club, also, he extended best wishes for. their future and a safe return, at some future date, to Sumner. • Mr Rawnsley suitably, responded.

Yesterday afternoon the members of the Lady Liverpool Society in Christ-, church presented Mrs E. G. -Rawnsley of Sumner, with two Doulton cups and saucers, on her departure for Timaru.
