ARBITRATION COURT.

WAIHT MINERS' AWARD,

INCREASES IN PAf REFUSED.

[Prat Psjbs Association.] AUCKLAND, September 26. Tlie Arbitration Court gave its award in the Waihi miners' dispute tins moraine. Mr Justice Hosking saicTthat the only substantial question was the minimum rate, of wages of various classes of workers. The majority of the Court came to the conclusion, having regard to the fact that heavy burdens had been imposed on the mining industry as the result of tho war, in the shape of increased taxation and high pi.ces of ull classes of materials, as urged by the employers, they could not properly gramt any general increase of wages. They considered, however, that some assistance should be given to the lowest paid workers, and this had been done. Mr J. A. M'Cullough, workers' representative, dissented from the decision of the majority of the Court, holding that all workers should havo been granted increased wages.
