Evidence is accumulating of a wideepread plot to start a series of serious fires in city and suburban establishments over the week-end period. Another outbreak has been notified in a drapery store in Newtown under sirai-' far circumstances. The police believe ‘that parcels of chemically-treated cotton waste were prepared on the time principle and were planted with tho intention of starting fires after the establishments closed on Saturday. Fortunately the plans miscarried and the outbreaks were discovered before they obtained'a hold. Foreigners are suspeoted but there are no clues. ■
